Description
In addition to special and permanent exhibits curated by the museum, the research department and museum collections contain historical documents including Pequot Overseers papers, Connecticut Indian Papers, Federal Census records, customs records, historical maps, vital statistics, land records, church records, and probate records. The Ethnographic Collection includes historical items made, gathered, and used by Native peoples primarily of the Eastern Woodlands and especially New England. The Contemporary Traditional Collection includes objects made by contemporary Native artists of the Eastern Woodlands, which show a continuation of style, technique, and/or materials. It also contains contemporary fine art such as paintings, sculpture, and prints. Limited digitally available materials, including a historical and cultural eBook with Native language recordings and stories, various public exhibits. An online portal with information on the Pequot War is also available.
